Ancient Rome
This Italic civilisation began growing as early as the 8th century BC. This expanded to become one of the largest empires in the ancient world. At one point, around twenty per cent of the global population lived in this empire. It covered six and a half million square kilometres during its height. While it existed for twelve centuries, it changed from a monarchy to a privileged republic to an arbitrary empire. Through conquest and adaptment, Southern and Western Europe, Asia Minor, North Africa and parts of Northern and Eastern Europe. Ancient Roman society provided a lot to government, law, politics, engineering, art, literature, architecture, warfare, religion, language, society and more in the Western World.
