The roman legion
In the early Roman kingdom and Republic, forces are illustrated as centuries which consist of one hundred men. These centuries were grouped together as enforced and answered to the leader who had hired or raised them. This organisation lasted until the second century BC. Joining the army was both a duty and a distinguishing mark of Roman citizenship.
